Summit Entertainment/New Regency’s alien-invasion film “The Darkest Hour” has temporarily halted production due to Russia’s wildfire emergency.
Smoke-related smog has blanketed Moscow, where the film is shooting. Local authorities had to warn people over the weekend to stay indoors and to wear surgical face masks if going outside.According to Variety, producers on the film decided to suspend production for two weeks on health and safety grounds.
Summit’s decision comes after a week of Russia’s worst ever wildfires in which 52 people have died and close to 2,000 homes have been destroyed.
“The Darkest Hour” stars Olivia Thirlby and Emile Hirsch.
