‘The Darkest Hour’ now out on DVD

Posted by Colleen on April 10th, 2012 under News

True, it doesn’t get much darker than being under alien attack, and that’s the plight of several teens who are in Moscow when the assault begins in this sci-fi tale.

Emile Hirsch (“The Girl Next Door”) and Joel Kinnaman, who was cast recently for an upcoming remake of “RoboCop,” are among those caught up in the mayhem as landmarks explode around them. Rachael Taylor (“Charlie’s Angels”), Olivia Thirlby and Max Minghella also star in the tale that clearly was engineered for the 3-D effects that enhanced it in theaters. DVD extras: “making-of” documentary; audio commentary by director Chris Gorak; deleted and extended scenes. ** (PG-13: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray and Movies on Demand)

New Olivia interview about ‘Being Flynn’

Posted by Colleen on February 25th, 2012 under News

Playing Denise, a nurse who works at the shelter, is Juno star Olivia Thirlby, who talks about how she prepared for the role and praises both her co-star, Paul Dano, and the film’s director, Paul Weitz.
In order to prepare for the role Thirlby did research by volunteering at a shelter, which was an eye-opening experience for her. She reveals, “After being in the shelter all day, I’d walk out into the night with a very different perspective. My eyes were opened to people on the street. The experience influenced my portrayal of Denise; to be at work full-time in a shelter speaks volumes about a person’s character, their tendency to help others — and themselves.”

Olivia to star in “Lonely, I’m Not” off broadway

Posted by Colleen on February 25th, 2012 under News

There’s nothing on the Second Stage Website yet, but it looks like Olivia might be staring in “Lonely, I’m Not”.

The actor has been cast as the lead in the Off Broadway production of Lonely, I’m Not, about a divorced businessman who tries to rebuild his life four years after suffering a nervous breakdown.

The play, which Weitz also penned, has yet to be given a start date, but Grace is “terrified” at the prospect of performing in front of a Broadway audience.

He tells WENN, “I have a play coming up in New York that will be starring Olivia Thirlby from Being Flynn and Topher Grace… It’s called Lonely I’m Not and Topher is terrified because he’s never done Broadway before.”
