Darkest Hour starts up again August 29th

Posted by Colleen on August 27th, 2010 under News

EXCLUSIVE: Summit Entertainment and New Regency suspended filming earlier this month because of wildfires raging in Russia. More than 50 people have been killed and more than 2,000 homes destroyed after an unprecedented heat wave and drought gripped the region. Prior to shutdown The Darkest Hour was filming using the 3D technology of Timur Bekmambetov’s Moscow-based film, commercial, and effects company Bazelevs. Summit is set to release the film on August 5 2011. Chris Gorak is the director and Tom Jacobson the producer. Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Rachel Taylor, Max Minghella and Joel Kinnaman star in this story of four tourists fighting for their lives in Moscow following an alien attack.

Darkest Hour shut down in Russia

Posted by Colleen on August 11th, 2010 under Uncategorized

Summit Entertainment/New Regency’s alien-invasion film “The Darkest Hour” has temporarily halted production due to Russia’s wildfire emergency.
Smoke-related smog has blanketed Moscow, where the film is shooting. Local authorities had to warn people over the weekend to stay indoors and to wear surgical face masks if going outside.

According to Variety, producers on the film decided to suspend production for two weeks on health and safety grounds.
Summit’s decision comes after a week of Russia’s worst ever wildfires in which 52 people have died and close to 2,000 homes have been destroyed.
“The Darkest Hour” stars Olivia Thirlby and Emile Hirsch.
