BIG congrats to Olivia!

Olivia Thirlby, the young actress known for supporting roles in such indies as “Juno” and “The Wackness,” has booked one of the leading roles in “The Darkest Hour,” a sci-fi action movie that will shoot on location in Moscow during the summer.

The script, which director Chris Gorak and Josh Zetumer are currently revising, follows a group of Americans traveling in the Russian capital when an alien invasion occurs. Thirlby plays a trust-fund girl who teams up with others to try to defeat the invaders.

Summit Entertainment will distribute in North America, and Fox internationally.

Thirlby, perhaps best known for playing Ellen Page’s sidekick in “Juno,” is due to shoot another indie, the fantasy romance “Jack and Diane,” this spring.

Looks like after much time, they are going to start filming this soon.

Jack & Diane, the lesbian werewolf film that has been in the works for four years, has now settled on a star. Originally, the role was going to Ellen Page (Juno), and then Alison Pill (Milk), but now it appears Juno Temple (Year One) will star, Bloody Disgusting is reporting (via /Film).
Temple will star opposite Olivia Thirlby in the film that centers around teenage lesbians who evidently turn into werewolves upon arousal.
The film, written and directed by Bradley Rust Gray (Hitch) will begin shooting in May, after the funding obstacle course it has been running since 2007.

Olivia was out last night in Los Angeles at a Pre-Oscar event, and the screencaps are all up in the gallery.
